His debut with the band came on February 10, 1970, at the Knight of Columbus Hall in Beaumont, TX, his tenure continuing for the next 56 years. Upon ZZ Top's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of ZZ Fame, Frank Beard remarked, “All I have to say is that most of my life has been a pleasant surprise, and so is this." Billy F Gibbons commented, “Today, Elwood and I lost a great friend and collaborator, and the world lost one of the most naturally innovative drummers and a great and true son of Texas. His signature backbeat was key to keeping ZZ on top.”Frank Beard’s passing necessitates the cancellation of the ZZ Top tour stop in Colorado Springs at Pikes Peak Center on August 19, refunds are provided at the point of purchase.
