Tales to Tell: Featuring “Jumpin’ Jazz ~ A Swinging Jungle Tale”

Jungle Jazz Band with Mark Oblinger and Steve Barta

What happens when you blend imaginative children’s tales, a Jazz Quintet, the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs, jungle animals from around world, and a sprinkling wave of a wand by the Fairy Godmother of the Arts?  You get a kaleidoscope of rich culture and music, awe-inspiring characters, colorful choreography, and memorable life lessons all coming together in the most unusual way!

 

This brand new innovative creation by Fairy Godmother Productions featuring “Jumpin’ Jazz ~ A Swinging Jungle Tale” surrounded by more surprises will inspire children and adults to engage and imagine music and storytelling like never before!

* Pianist Steve Barta is a nationally acclaimed Composer, Recording Artist, Author, Educator and Speaker. He has performed his original works as a solo artist, with jazz ensembles, and symphony orchestras. His contribution to the world of music includes 14 Recordings that reflect his many influences, particularly Brazilian, Jazz and Classical with legendary jazz & latin greats Hubert Laws, Herbie Mann, Dori Caymmi, and Paulinho da Costa. Steve has also written several works for symphony orchestra that have been performed worldwide, including Heritage Suite and A Midwest Dream. Steve teaches intermediate to advanced students, educators and professional musicians from his studio in Colorado Springs, Colorado and has also authored The Source, a book widely used by teachers and university programs worldwide as well as four books of his original compositions and arrangements.  In 1991, Steve joined a distinguished list of concert pianists when he was recognized as a Steinway Artist by the venerable piano maker Steinway & Sons. Steve loves hiking, gardening and the martial arts.

 

**  Emmy winning Mark Oblinger is a former member of Atlantic Recording Artist "Firefall" and has been working as a composer, performer, producer and teacher for over 25 years.  Mark is currently a composer for Studio 51, a songwriting team that provides music for TV for Harpo Productions and has appeared on over 50 commercially available CDs as a performer, writer, arranger and producer.  As a father of two young children in the 90’s, created and produce two popular Jazz CDs for children, "Jungle Jazz Joint Jam" and the award winning (Parents Choice Gold) "Jazz Joint Jump" and then wrote theme music for Disneyworld’s Dolphin and Swan Resorts, composed the award winning soundtrack underscores for Gaiam's Children's Yoga Video "Silly to Calm" and "Yoga Now" and released ‘Journeys” in 2008, a collection of “Western” New Age instrumentals.  Mark has had the privilege to arrange and perform vocals on 3 CDs by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Richie Furay (Buffalo Springfield, Poco) and arranged and performed vocals on the Grammy nominated "The Spark" by Chris Daniels.  Mark’s extensive teaching career began in the early 80’s and he currently teaches at Stanley British Primary and DSST in Denver.  Mark is a longtime resident of Boulder, Colorado and shares his home with his children, wife Linda, and an assortment of ever changing pets.








Dress code for all ages:  Feel free to dress in kid jammies; jungle attire; as a wild animal; a jazz legend (like Ella Fitzgerald, Thelonius Monk); or your own adorable self!

6:00 pm  Doors open to the lobby for activities designed to enhance your experience, engage your curiosity, teach you something new, and connect you to other cool organizations.

7:00 pm: Performance

8:00 pm: Autographs with cast members, free freshly-baked Otho's cookies and natural Sinton's milk, and then...home to sweet dreams!
