The most beloved musical of all time is coming to Boise. WEST SIDE STORY will be at Pikes Peaks Center in Colorado Springs, March 212-13, 2013 as part of the Broadway In Colorado Springs 2012-2013 Season. WEST SIDE STORY tells the story of star-crossed lovers Tony and Maria as they struggle to rise above the hatred and intolerance that surrounds them. WEST SIDE STORY soars as the greatest love story of all time and remains as powerful, poignant and timely as ever.
WEST SIDE STORY is written by three theatrical luminaries: two-time Tony Award winner Arthur Laurents (book) and multiple Tony and Grammy Award winners Leonard Bernstein (music) and Stephen Sondheim (lyrics) in his Broadway debut.
The Associated Press says WEST SIDE STORY “remains Broadway’s best dance-driven musical. Five decades have not dimmed the extraordinary choreography or the score that pulsates throughout.” Variety says, “The true stars of WEST SIDE STORY are Jerome Robbins' graceful, endlessly expressive choreography and Leonard Bernstein's score, which still sounds bracingly modern a half-century after it was first heard. The music is a primal force.”
The Bernstein and Sondheim score is considered to be one of Broadway’s finest and features such classics of the American musical theatre as “Something’s Coming,” “Tonight,” “America,” “I Feel Pretty” and “Somewhere.”
**WEST SIDE STORY is recommended for ages 13+. Please be advised that there is strong language, violence and some sensitive subject matter that is true to the story and plot. Parental guidance is suggested.

This concert is in Studio Bee
Emerging from the pubs and clubs of Leeds, England, their hometown in 2009, The Dunwells are brothers Joseph Dunwell (vocals, guitar) and David Dunwell (guitar, piano, banjo) along with cousins Jonny Lamb (vocals, drums) and Rob Clayton (bass) and longtime best mate Dave Hanson (guitar, pedal steel).
Their debut U.K. single, “Elizabeth,” hit #31 on the Independent Music chart the week it was released in March 2010. The band spent the rest of the year touring Britain and Europe, playing such top festivals as Hop Farm (with Bob Dylan and Van Morrison), Edinburgh’s cutting-edge Fringe Fest, Triumph Live (with Mumford & Sons) and the Fete De La Musique in Paris. Following the release of their debut EP in October 2010, The Dunwells were named Artist of the Month by the Caffe Nero coffee chain — the British equivalent of Starbucks — and played a 20 day/40 show tour of its shops in England and Scotland to win over a growing U.K. fan base. The buzz spread to London when the band booked a gig at The Bedford, a noted showcase venue where acts like Paolo Nutini, KT Tunstall and Ellie Goulding began their rise.
There are some records that manage to span multiple eras of time and various places, in essence creating a new sonic space. New Englanders Bronze Radio Return have done just that on their sophomore album, the gorgeous and varied SHAKE! SHAKE! SHAKE!. Contained within the space between notes and breaths are thousands of miles, and decades of history.
The roots of this travelogue-time capsule - and the band that made it - can be traced back to lead singer and guitarist Chris Henderson’s childhood. Spending hours on end in his father’s art studio, one of Henderson’s clearest, dearest memories is the large bronze radio, and the joyful noises he learned of there. “When the band started, we were looking for our direction, to see what this was going to be,” explains Henderson. “We came back to this idea of the return of the bronze radio, a return to some of those older, familiar sounds that all of us inherently grew up with.” The result is a forward-thinking retrospective of the sounds we all love, curated and created by Henderson, Rob Griffith (drums/vocals), Bob Tanen (bass/vocals), Matt Warner (keys, vocals), Craig Struble (harmonica/guitar), and Patrick Fetkowitz (guitar).

In her 22 year career, Kathleen Madigan has never been hotter. With her new Showtime special, Gone Madigan, in constant rotation and the DVD-CD of the special topping the Amazon and iTunes charts, Madigan has the entire year booked with over 100 theater gigs across the country and numerous television appearances. She’s recently back from her second Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff’s USO Holiday Tour of Iraq and Afghanistan. This year Madigan shared the stage with Robin Williams, Lewis Black, Lance Armstrong, Kix Brooks and Admiral Mike Mullen who hosted the tour. After the ten day tour, she returned home to tape appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, The Green Room with Paul Provenza The Joy Behar Show in New York.
She’s had countless appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and every other late night show that has come and gone. She’s had her own hour specials on HBO and Comedy Central. In addition to the stand-up appearances, Madigan has been a correspondent for The Dr. Phil Show, ESPN 2 and done commentary on VH1, CNN, E! , CMT and TV Guide’s Emmy Red Carpet. She’s performed not only in the US, but in Canada, China, Ireland and England.
In 2004, Madigan was the only comedian ever to go unchallenged on NBC’S Last Comic Standing and in 2007 was a talent scout during the show’s fifth season. Other television appearances include stints on E!, CNN, The Tonight Show (10 appearances), Letterman (5 appearances), The Conan O’Brien Show, HBO (2 of her own specials), Comedy Central (An hour and half hour special), and ESPN. Madigan also somehow defeated the ever-popular Larry the Cable guy and other notable funny comics to win the 2007 Sirius Radio Comedy Cup.
Madigan has won the American Comedy Award for “Best Female Comedian” and the Phyllis Diller Award for “Best Female Comedian.” Although she’s has turned down many writing jobs because she loves performing more, Madigan has written and produced for Lewis Black’s Root of All Evil on Comedy Central and for Garry Shandling. “I’ll write for other people–not many– but a few and only if they have a clear voice and persona that I already think is funny and if they let me write in my pajamas and smoke.”
She remains the only comedian in the history of NBC’s Last Comic Standing to go unchallenged by any other comedian–meaning no other comedian would say they were funnier than her. Madigan was a finalist in season 2 of Last Comic Standing and a judge on season 5. “It was fun to judge it once, but never again. I just can’t think of 2000 ways to tell someone they’re not funny without turning into a full blown alcoholic.”
She’s a favorite on nationally syndicated radio shows such as The Bob and Tom Show and The Stephanie Miller Show. She’s also a constant on SIRIUS-XM Radio and last year beat out all the guys–including Larry the Cable Guy, Ron White and Jeff Foxworthy– to win the listener determined “SIRIUS Challenge Cup,” deeming her the number one favorite comedian played on SIRIUS radio.
Madigan has released four CDs and two hour long DVDs.
Born in St. Louis, she now lives in Los Angeles but spends, as she puts it, “inordinate amounts of time,” with her 6 siblings and parents who live in the Midwest where she hangs out on her farm and on a raft in a lake. After 22 years of 300 nights on the road, her goal remains to move to Ireland and drink Guinness while feeding her sheep herding dogs.

Be dazzled, once more, by the Irish dance spectacle Lord of the Dance, returning to Pikes Peak Center in Colorado Springs, on March 26, 2013 for one performance only.
Sixteen years ago, Michael Flatley created and launched Lord of the Dance (www.lordofthedance.com); today, it is selling out arenas and theatres as the world’s highest grossing Irish dance show. Generations of audiences - more than 60 million people from 68 countries - have seen Lord of the Dance. Presented by MagicSpace Entertainment and Global Entertainment Group, the tour returns to Colorado Springs at Pikes Peak Center on March 26, 2013. Season ticket holders for Broadway in Colorado Springs can purchase tickets before they go on sale to the general public.
Speaking about the show’s updates, Flatley says, “We have fresh wardrobes and an exciting new set featuring elements from the successful international tour I performed in last year – we sold out more than 20 dates in the UK. Fans will see technological highlights like video incorporated into an LED wall, as well as a number of changes to the overall lighting and set designs.” Flatley, who retired from dancing in 2011, is Artistic Director of Lord of the Dance and oversees all aspects of the production. “We are really excited to introduce our fans to the new visual experience that compliments our show.” Flatley added that new interest in dancing sparked by primetime shows like “Dancing with the Stars” has fans anxious to see more Lord of the Dance style shows. Flatley was a special guest on “Dancing with the Stars” in the seventh season and performed on the show in 2007 and 2008.
A 2012 Valentine’s Day tour launch is merely coincidence, but is fitting since an integral part of the show is a love story between the two main characters. “Lord of the Dance is a classic tale of good versus evil, based on Irish folklore that brings a romantic and passionate love story to life,” says Flatley. The story is based upon mythical Irish folklore as Don Dorcha, Lord of Darkness, challenges the ethereal lord of light, the Lord of the Dance. “Battle lines are drawn, passions ignite and a love story fueled by the dramatic leaps and turns of dancers’ bodies begins to build against a backdrop of Celtic rhythm,” says Flatley. “Fans can expect 21 scenes of precision dancing, dramatic music, new colorful wardrobes and state-of-the-art staging and lighting.”
Along with Dance Director Marie Duffy-Pask, Flatley hand picks the cast of over 40 dancers; each has achieved individual recognition as a national or worldwide dance champion. Lee Marshall, CEO of MagicSpace Entertainment, the tour promoter and veteran of blockbuster entertainment events agrees. “These championship dancers have captivated a new generation of fans, and manage the impossible every night. Their collective spirit and energy takes the audience to a time and place that is as imaginative as it is inviting.”
Flatley conceptualized and staged the show in a mere 16 weeks but also paid particular attention to the costumes, lighting and staging which are cinematic in scope. “Irish dance lovers and music fans alike will experience the engaging, rhythmic adventures that has helped catapult Celtic dance mania and Irish dancing into the global spotlight,” says Flatley. No wonder Lord of the Dance ticket sales exceed more than $800 million worldwide. Described by the New York Post as "fascinating, rewarding and above all, entertaining," and by the Los Angeles Times as "a showpiece extravaganza," Lord of the Dance is a mesmerizing blend of traditional and modern Celtic music and dance.
