Award winning singer-songwriter Judy Collins is a beautiful soul, esteemed for her imaginative interpretations of traditional and contemporary folk standards and her own poetically poignant original compositions. After over five decades of making music, she’s still going strong, singing and creating music of hope and healing.
Judy Collins began her impressive music career at 13 as a piano prodigy. Then the passion and sensitivity of the folk revival music of Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger seduced her into a lifelong love affair with the guitar and the pursuit of emotional truth in lyrics. But she maintained the practice and discipline of her classical training which gave her the work ethic and inner strength to thrive in the music business.
Judy Collins won a Grammy in 1968 for Joni Mitchell’s song Both Sides Now. Her 1967 album Wildflowers has been entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Her intimate version of Stephen Sondheim’s “Send in the Clowns” won “Song of the Year” at the 1975 Grammy Awards.
With a voice as intimate and beautiful as ever, Judy Collins is an icon and an inspiration. Her 2015 release “Strangers Again” contains duets with Willie Nelson, Jackson Browne, Jeff Bridges and others. In her duet with Jimmy Buffet on the song “Someday Soon,” a song sung by a young woman, Judy Collins at the age of 76 sounds not only youthful but still full of the spunk and spirit that makes her so endearing.
Judy Collins continues to create music that lights up the world and speaks to the heart.
